"Dawn of the Age of Love"
Lord Brahma said, "Listen carefully, for I shall give you a confidential description of what will happen in the Kali-Yuga. The Supreme Personality of Godhead, Govinda, the Supreme Enjoyer, Whose Form is transcendental, Who is beyond the touch of the three modes of material nature, and Who is the all-pervading Supersoul residing in the hearts of all living entities, will appear again in the Kali age. Appearing as the greatest devotee, the Supreme Personality of Godhead will assume a two-armed Form of golden complexion in His abode of Goloka Vrindavan manifested on the bank of the Ganges at Navadvipa. He will disseminate pure devotional service in the world. This incarnation of the Lord is described in the following verses. Appearing in this golden Form, the all-powerful Supreme Lord will fill the entire universe with transcendental bliss by the chanting of His Own Holy Names."
Sri Caitanya Upanisad
Already the Lord had sent His dearmost associates, Advaita Acharya, Haridas Thakur, and Srivas Prabhu. These three transcendental personalities were imbued with pure love for Sri Gaura Hari and were the first golden rays heralding His arrival.
Irresistably drawn by the force of pure bhakti flowing from these three exalted devotees, Sri Krishna contemplated His next descent into the material realm. When He left five thousand years ago, Kali invaded the Earth. Kali was now at the height of his power after breaking three of the four pillars of religiousity. Gone were mercy, austerity, and cleanliness, and the final pillar, truthfulness, had grown very weak. So rampant was the disease of irreligion that only a special appearance of the Lord could save the world.
Sri Krishna thought of His duty to save and protect His children, the living entities of this world. When the poison becomes most severe, a particularly potent medicine is needed. The only antidote for those bitten by the deadly fangs of serpent-like Kali is the most concentrated nectar of the Holy Name. Sri Krishna decided to personally appear to teach the chanting of His Holy Name and freely give pure devotion. In this way He would annihilate the miscreants and deliver the whole world while enlivening His devotees. For their pleasure, He would restore the religious principles. And for His Own pleasure, the Lord would come in the guise of His devotee to taste the sweetness of bhakti.
